Theatres and Music

We are very fortunate to have an active music and arts scene in both Bollington and neighbouring Macclesfield and Wilmslow. Most weekends will find local bands performing in several of the local pubs.

  • Bollington Arts Centre hosts a regular Comedy Club, a monthly Jazz Club as well as other regular events. Some fantastic comediens and musiciens have performed here. Their aim is to bring you the very best in national and international music, theatre, visual arts and education. Check their website for forthcoming events. www.bollingtonartscentre.co.uk
  • MADS Theatre.  Formed in 1947 the theatre is enjoying it's 70th Anniversary season.  www.madstheatre.org
  • Gawsworth Hall. Every summer this wonderful historic Tudor house opens its gardens for three months of theatre and music. From acclaimed tribute bands to a regular diary date for Ken Dodd and everything inbetween, there is always something for everyone during their season. Tradition dictates that prior to taking your seat in the covered all-seater audience auditorium for the evenings performance you  take a picnic, relax and enjoy the wonderful setting of the house and its lake and gardens. www.gawsworthhall.com
  • Wilmslow Green Room Theatre. Founded in 1924, the Wilmslow Green Room Society is one of the oldest Amateur Dramatic Societies in the UK. In the beginning, we were “strolling players” performing wherever a venue could be found. The theatre has seating capacity for up to 102. Our programme of productions is chosen to provide a varied and challenging season of plays, using innovative and adventurous stage designs, and is well supported by local people. www.wgrsoc.org.uk
