The Glass House draws you into Bollington life the minute you step over the threshold.  A unique, detached 19th Century cottage set in The Heritage Triangle of Bollington, Cheshire, on the edge of The Peak District and The Cheshire Plain. Steeped in history this designer conversion has previously seen life as a stained glass workshop, reminders of which can be seen in the first floor windows.

Whether you want a walking, cycling, exploring holiday or simply a relaxing retreat for a while, within a short walk of all amenities, The Glass House is an ideal base for up to four people.

The property is something of a ‘Tardis’, widening out towards the rear from a narrow frontage in a quirky wedge shape. With two double bedrooms, one of which can be either a double or twin room on request, and an elegant bathroom with rain shower on the ground floor, the staircase then leads you up to the first floor.  Here you find the open plan living/dining/kitchen area with exposed roof beams and light streaming in from all angles through the stained glass windows and roof lights.

We have a passion for vintage style so the decor is an eclectic mix of modern with a few genuine mid-century pieces. Think Scandinavian 1960/70’s designer Günter Hoffstead.

Outside there is a private, secluded courtyard for those relaxing summer afternoons and evenings.

Step out of the front door and immediately you are immersed in all that Bollington has to offer. Canalside and country walks via the numerous easy footpaths can result in a visit to one of the many country pubs within walking distance.  Whatever your choice of eatery, be it Italian, Greek, Indian, Spanish or good old fashioned pub fare you can eat out every evening and have a different style of cuisine each time. You are spoilt for choice with wine bars, restaurants, pubs and cafes all within a five minute or less walk away.

If you are looking for a base for touring, walking or cycling you cannot ask for more. There are seven National Trust properties and at least five other historic houses all within a 45 minute drive. The Gritstone Trail for walking and hill climbing runs though the town as well as the Cheshire Ring canal route.

Bollington is also located right on the edge of The Peak District within easy reach of Buxton, Matlock and Bakewell.

Manchester, Liverpool and Chester are all a short commute away either by car or train. London is only 1 hour 45 min by train so a day out in the capital is easily achievable.

If you have never visited this part of Cheshire, you need to find out what you’ve been missing. If you know the area – then we look forward to welcoming you back!
