Local Market Towns

  • Macclesfield: As a gateway to the Peak District, Macclesfield has breathtaking countryside, parks, rivers, canals, reservoirs and woodland all on our doorstep. The world famous Arighi Bianchi department store (with it’s wonderful café) is based in Macclesfield.


  • Knustford: Knutsford is situated on the Cheshire plain between the Peak District National Park in the east and the Welsh Mountains in the west surrounding the town with beautiful countryside and picturesque villages, well worth a visit.


  • Bakewell: Set in an enviable location on the banks of the Wye, with the river meandering gently through the centre, this beautiful old market town is in the heart of the Peak District, surrounded by stunning countryside views. Famous for its puddings and for receiving royal charter as a market town in 1330, markets are still held every Monday in the town centre and there is a thriving livestock market.


  • Buxton: Buxton is today one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Peak District. Within an hour’s drive of Manchester, Sheffield, Derby and Stoke, its famous Georgian and Victorian architecture provides an impressive backdrop to a rich and vibrant range of music, theatre and festivals.


  • Ashbourne: A thriving picturesque market town on the edge of The Peak District, rich in history, Ashbourne is the perfect destination for couples, families and groups. Combining a medieval street pattern and historic buildings with a wealth of high quality shops. The cobbled market place, hidden alleys and yards are a delight to explore.


  • Leek: a traditional market town on the edge of the Peak District National Park. Perfectly placed for a relaxed break away, mooching around the markets, independent shops and wealth of cafes, tea rooms and pubs or for the more adventurous and active types taking on the challenging terrain of the Peak District National Park and the great opportunities for all kinds of outdoor activities we’re sure you’ll find something to your liking.
